Fractory ("the app") is developed by Hemorphage ("we," "us"). This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. Fractory is designed to collect as little data as possible.
Anonymous device identifier. The app generates a random identifier on your device the first time you play. It is not linked to your name, email address, or Apple ID, and we have no way to identify you from it.
Gameplay statistics. If you play the Daily Challenge, the app sends your result (the puzzle's date, the value you reached, and how it compares to the optimal solution) to our database, tagged with the anonymous device identifier above. This powers the daily leaderboard and the "top X%" comparison shown in the app. No puzzle solution, board layout, or personal content is ever uploaded.
Community puzzles. If you choose to create and upload a puzzle in the Puzzle Creator, the puzzle's structure (grid size and input/output values) is uploaded so other players can play it. This is data you explicitly choose to share; it contains no personal information.
Purchases. In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple's App Store / StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details. We only receive confirmation from Apple that a purchase was completed, so the app can unlock the paid content on your device.
Usage analytics. The app records a small number of anonymous presence events — for example, that the app was opened, the paywall was shown, a purchase completed, the example canvas was viewed, or a Daily Challenge was submitted — at most once per event type per day, tagged with the anonymous device identifier above. This tells us at a high level whether features are being used; it carries no personal content and no advertising identifier.
Crash and performance diagnostics. If the app crashes or freezes, Apple's on-device MetricKit framework generates a technical diagnostic report (a stack trace), which is sent to our database tagged with the anonymous device identifier so we can find and fix the problem. This uses Apple's built-in MetricKit framework, not a third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Gameplay statistics, community puzzles, usage analytics, and crash/performance diagnostics are stored in a hosted database (Supabase) used solely to operate the features described above. Data is retained only as long as needed to provide the daily leaderboard, the community puzzle library, and to diagnose app problems.
Because the identifier is anonymous and not tied to your identity, there is no account to delete. If you'd like your device's daily-challenge statistics removed from our database, contact us (below) and we will remove any rows associated with your device identifier on request — note that since the identifier is anonymous we can only act on the identifier value itself, which you would need to retrieve from the app if you want it removed.
Fractory does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app collects no personal information from any user, as described above.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change and, for any material change, we'll update the copy in the app's App Store listing.
